You can do this any day but it's best during the new or waxing moon. If possible you should do it near midnight, but again that's not required. Early morning or dusk is preferable to mid-day. If you can you should do it in a place in nature. If you do it in your room, cover the "normal" things in there. The easiest way is to throw sheets over your table, TV, etc. That way when you look around your subconscious isn't going "hey this is my room!" This will help you feel like this is a temple.

Take a bath or shower, keeping in mind the whole time that the water is cleansing your spirit as well as your body. After the bath put on the clothes you will wear for your ritual. Make sure you choose each piece deliberately. It's best if it feels different from your normal clothing. I did this by wearing ankle weights and my martial arts belt (worn really high), because it should also help you feel strong.

On clean papers draw the runes for Odin, Freya, and Thor. Now, enter your sacred area.

Take 8 stones (they can be little rocks if you really need them to be) and lay one at the north, north-east, east, etc. continuing until you've put them in a circle around you at the 4 corners and half-corners. Between the north rock and the altar (any surface will work) put down the runes with Odin in the center. On the altar light some incense and put something good to drink (it should be beer, but it's the spirit that counts, especially if you hate beer)

Light a candle and put it at the north stone and say:
I give honor to he Lands of my Gods,
Ancient and good,
And the power that is within them.
Hail Odin!
(Salute)

Light a candle and put it at the east stone and say:
I give honor to the Winds of my Gods,
Ever fresh and new,
And the power that is within them.
Hail Odin!
(Salute)

Light a candle and put it at the south stone and say:
I give honor to the warm Sun of my Gods,
Ever giving new life,
And the power that is within them.
Hail Odin!
(Salute)

Light a candle and put it at the west stone and say:
I give honor to the seas and lakes
And rivers of my Gods
And the power that is within them.
Hail Odin!
(Salute)

Go the the altar and light a candle and put it at the Rune of Odin (I set them on the tops of the pages). Say:
Hail Odinsheiti, giver of victory,
Thou who knowest the runes of wisdom,
And of power.
Bring me again to be with thy people.
Those who know the strength of thy
Ancient ways.
Give me of thy wisdom.
That I may better honor thee
As I prosper in thy name.
Hail Odin!

Add anything else you want to say to Odin and then drink to his honor. Light a candle and put it at the Rune of Thor. Say:

Hail Thor, laughing, red-bearded
Thunderer and guardian.
Bring me again to be with thy people.
Those who know the joy and robust power of thine
Ancient Ways.
Give me of thy might, and of thy laughter
That I may better honor thee
As I prosper in thy name.
Hail Thor!

Add anything else you want to say to Thor and then drink to his honor. Light a candle and put it at the Rune of Freya Say:

Hail Freya the Fair One,
Beautiful enchantress, jewel of the Gods.
And chooser of the mortals who are most honored.
Bring me again to be with thy people.
Those who know the magic and beauty
And triumph of thine Ancient Ways.
Give me of thy pride and persuasion
That I may better honor thee
As I prosper in thy name.
Hail Freya!

Add anything else you want to say to Freya and then drink to her honor.

Stand there silently for a short while meditating on the presences of the Old Ones, the Gods of our folk who are eternally young, eternally powerful, and returning again to Earth to cast their sacred presence around you. Sense their power about you. At this time add any words which you find appropriate, including on behalf of other people.

When done face the runes of the Gods and hold up the drink one last time and say:

O Great Ones of High Valhalla,
I give honor to thee
For being with me here.
May some of thy sacred presences
Remain within me as I leave.
And be ever near me, as well as with
Those who are my true people.
To thee do I drink this toast,
And pour this libation.
Hail Freya!
(Salute)
Hail Thor!
(Salute)
Hail Odin!
(Salute)

Pour some drink either on the ground (or into a bowl if you're inside. Pour the bowl outside after the ritual is done) and drink the rest. Put out the candles in the north, east, south, and west, and then the ones on the runes. Stand before the altar with your arms out (like a cross) and say:

I thank thee, O Great Ones.
The rite is ended.
